Parenting Teenagers Survey
Families, and in particular mums and dads, are really important in supporting their teenager to be healthy, happy and to meet their potential. Research shows that teenagers with high quality, close relationships with their parents have fewer difficulties during adolescence and into adulthood. The project looks at how parents and teenagers get along with one another, how parents raise their teenagers, and how this relates to teenagers’ wellbeing. We also want to better understand how technology, like texting, Instagram and Facebook, affect family relationships.
Reducing Family Conflict:
Evaluation of a 2-hour group
Parenting a teenager can be challenging, yet there is little research looking at ways to effectively support the parents of teenagers. We are conducting research to test how helpful a single session discussion group aimed at reducing family conflict is for parents of 11- to 16-year-old children. The discussion group is based on the Triple P-Positive Parenting Program and is specially tailored for families with teenagers. We are interested in gaining the perspective of parents and their teenager regarding how useful and effective the discussion group is for families.
