The family and in particular, parents are really important in supporting children and young people to be healthy, happy and to meet their potential. Pets also play an important role in the lives of Australian families and young people with over 62% of households having at least one pet. Our research is investigating how parents and children’s relationships with their pet cat or dog influences the wellbeing of children and young adults (aged 18-25 years) how they get along with other people in their lives.
