Children’s participation in sport brings many potential benefits and is important for healthy development and wellbeing. It is widely recognised that children’s participation, enjoyment and success in junior sport is strongly influenced by their family.
Parent’s actions (along with the actions of coaches, other parents and sports administrators) help to determine the degree of benefit children get from participation in sport. Parenting can also influence whether children persist with a sport or withdraw.
This website links parents and coaches to a trial of the new Play Well online program.
Play Well gives parents the tools to help maximise their children’s enjoyment and ongoing participation in sport and physical activity. Play Well is a new variant of the world-renowned and evidence-based Triple P – Positive Parenting Program® (‘Triple P’). Both Play Well and Triple P were developed at the University of Queensland, Australia.
We are seeking participation from parents with a child aged up to 12 years who is enrolled in junior rugby league this season. If you would like to participate in this study, please follow the link below to register your interest.
