Welcome to our online self-compassion program for Dads of children aged 3-9 years!

Some Basic Information.
Please read this page carefully before moving ahead.

What is this study?

This study offers free, brief, and evidence-based mental health tools to help support the wellbeing of dads.

This project was designed for dads of children aged 3-9 years of age.

This project is run by researchers at The Compassionate Mind Research Group at the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland

What will I do in this project?

Taking part in this Project will involve 2 stages.

The first stage takes about 40-45 minutes and includes three parts:

  1. There are about 10 minutes of optional survey questions at the start.
  2. You then get to try a 20-30 minute online activity to improve mental wellbeing.
  3. Then there are 5 more minutes of surveys and feedback at the end.

The second stage happens 3-months after you complete the online activity. And it will involve us emailing you an online survey to complete, which will take about 10-15 minutes.

More specifically, you will be able to do the following:

  • TRY OUT AN ACTIVITY
You will be randomised to one of two different online activities. Each activity takes about 20-30 minutes and be done totally on your own, where and when you want. In each online activity you will be provided some different practical strategies on ways of coping with stress, anxiety, and other emotional experiences that come with being a dad.
  • TELL US WHAT YOU THINK
Before and after each activity, we will ask you some questions about your mood, your thoughts, and what you thought of the activity. These questions are optional, so you can complete the activity without answering the questions if you prefer.
  • SHARE YOUR ADVICE WITH OTHERS
After you finish an activity, you will have a chance to share your best advice to other dads who may be struggling with a tricky emotion, based on what you learned in the activity. If you tell us it’s okay, we will post your advice on the Project website for other people to read! We will never post any information that would tell others who you are.

If you choose to try this study your participation will be confidential and voluntary. You can stop whenever you want.

Please go to the next page if you would like to learn more about the study.
