Investigators: Carolina Gonzalez (Principal Investigator), Alina Morawska (Associate Investigator), and Divna Haslam (Associate Investigator).
Researchers from the University of Queensland are investigating parents’ perceptions about parenting and their opinions about parenting programs. Information about the project and outcomes will be available at the Parenting and Family Support Centre website at https://www.pfsc.uq.edu.au/.
Parents with a child aged 2-12 years old will be asked to complete some questionnaires online about their child, the way they parent, and their perceptions regarding programs for parents. While completing the questionnaires, parents will also receive some written and/or video information about parenting programs. These questionnaires will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. One month after completing the questionnaires, participants may be asked to take part in a 5-minute follow-up survey, either online or by phone.
All data collected in this study will be stored confidentially at the Parenting and Family Support Centre, University of Queensland. Only members of the research team will have access to identified data. Data will only be reported and analysed in a way that is not linked to individual information, and the data will be used for research purposes only. Any publications emerging from this study will be devoid of any identifying information.
Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw from this study at any time without explanation or penalty. If you wish to withdraw from this study, simply stop completing the questionnaire. If you wish to withdraw after you have completed the questionnaire, the research team is unable to remove your data from the research dataset as there are no personal details to link to your answers. If you provide personal details later in the study (may be applicable to some parents), please email Mrs Carolina Gonzalez on c.gonzalez@uq.edu.au requesting your data to be removed from the research dataset.
Participation in this study should involve no physical or mental discomfort and no risks beyond those of everyday living. However, if you find any question or procedure to be invasive or offensive, you are free to omit to answer or not participate in that aspect of the study.
This study adheres to the Guidelines of the ethical review process of The University of Queensland and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. Whilst you are free to discuss your participation in this study with project staff (contactable on 07 3443 2567), if you would like to speak to an officer of the University not involved in the study, you may contact the Ethics Coordinator on 3365 3924.
If you would like more information, please contact Mrs Carolina Gonzalez at the Parenting and Family Support Centre on (07) 3443 2567 or email c.gonzalez@uq.edu.au.
Once this research is completed, general results will be presented in the research project website (http://exp.psy.uq.edu.au/parenting/)
