Please check the study information page on "who can participate" and follow the prompts at sign-up to make ensure you are eligible. For this study, we invite all employees working in any Australian time zone, who are employed in one company/position, work full-time or part-time hours (at least 28 hours per week) on business days (Monday-Friday), work mostly during business hours (i.e., a slightly variable schedule is fine and variation in work location is also fine), and have internet access at both home and work during the data collection period.
When you sign up to the study we will ask you how you want to be contacted in order to complete the daily surveys during the experience sampling (e.g., via email or SMS, or both). The surveys are online and accessible via a weblink, and these can be completed on any desktop, tablet, or mobile phone device with internet access.
The daily surveys will begin on the next Monday morning following your sign up to this study and will continue on business days (Monday-Friday) for three weeks. You will be sent notifications to remind you to complete the daily surveys at their specified times (i.e., “on waking” is available 5:30am-8:30am; “end of work day” is available 3:30pm-6:30pm; and “before bed” is available 8:30pm-11:30pm).
It is important for the research that you complete your surveys, as many as possible at the specified times. To help you remember, we will send you a notification when each survey opens, and if you are yet to complete a survey 90 minutes after your initial notification, then we will send you a reminder. If you haven’t managed to complete a survey during the window it is open, then simply complete the next one when it opens. It is very important for the research that the surveys are completed as much as is humanly possible. Unfortunately, we cannot accept early or late surveys. All that being said, we completely understand that things can come up, and it is okay if you miss some of the surveys, though it would be best to keep this to a minimum.
Depending on your work pattern and leave, this might happen. This is ok, it is ok to miss some of the surveys when needed. If you don't work on a particular day, then just leave the "End of work" survey for that day, but please do continue on with the study and complete the other surveys available when you can.
Circumstances might mean you have to unexpectedly finish work early on a particular day. If so, this is ok. If you did work part of the day, then please still complete the "end of work" survey for that day, and in that survey you can record the hours of work for that day and you can let us know why, if you want to.
For this research it is perfectly fine to be regularly working at your workplace, home office, or any location that you typically work from. Also, variation in work location, either day-to-day or week-to-week is also perfectly fine. Just go about your work routine as you would normally.
If you are the winner of one of the gift cards for participation in this study, you will be contacted via email after all the data has been collected. At this stage, we expect that this will be in April 2026.
Your entry into the prize draw is dependent on how many surveys you complete. This means that the more surveys you complete, the higher chance you will have of winning a prize! Also, the more surveys you complete, the higher quality data we will have for the research, and also, for your individual feedback report.
It is important to remember that any surveys (i.e., baseline survey or daily surveys) that you complete are hosted via a secure online survey platform that is separate to this sign-up webpage. The reason for this procedure is so that any identifying details (i.e., name, email, etc.) that you provide to us here on this webpage, as part of sign-up, are stored separately from your survey responses collected as part of the research, to help us ensure the confidentiality of your responses and the privacy of your information.
If you want to participate, please read the participant information via the Welcome screen, and then click the option to consent to participate. After this, we’ll ask you to provide us some contact details and other information, in order to set-up your preferred approach to the experience sampling survey day. After this set-up procedure, you will be automatically redirected to a separate survey platform to complete the initial baseline survey (which will take ~ 20 minutes). Completing the initial baseline survey also enters you into the draw for one of the gift cards!
